The Story Behind Lend LB

Since 2022

Solar panels are mushrooming on almost every roof in Lebanon ...

... but how can we move from small-scale solar power to large-scale renewable energy installations to put an end to power cuts?

In Lebanon, many households use remittances to install solar panels on their roofs for self-consumption. LEND LB was born out of a desire to replicate this model and extend it to the financing of larger renewable energy projects on a national scale.

Since November 2024

LEND LB : from ideation to structuration

To bring this idea to life, LEND LB was selected as one of 8 projects (out of 80 applicants) to join the BGE PaRIF incubator in Paris — a program supporting purpose-driven businesses in the social and solidarity economy.

That same spring, LEND LB also won the French national final of Climate Launchpad, a green business idea competition organized by EIT Climate-KIC. Starting in France, the competition extends across Europe and eventually to a global stage — spotlighting innovative climate solutions like LEND LB.

To accelerate the deployment of renewable energy in Lebanon — at a faster pace and on a larger scale — driving development through job creation, stable economic activity, and reduced reliance on costly fossil fuel imports.

How It Works

Our estimated impact

Lebanon's renewable energy potential remains largely untapped. According to the latest studies, the country could host more than 300 MW of solar installations of over 1 MW, i.e. installations on a commercial, industrial and utility scale.

The total cost of these projects is estimated at around €255 M, and LEND LB hopes to help finance these plants through an initial batch of 15 projects up to 2030.
